POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician (Industrial)

Pay: $20-31 DOE

HOURS: 2nd Shift: 3PM-1:30AM 
                3rd Shift: 9PM-7:30AM
      **4, 10 HR Shifts. Optional Overtime**

CLASS SUMMARY:

Responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical/mechanical/industrial systems.  Preventative maintenance and repair on the equipment.  Operate various measuring, diagnostic and testing equipment.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

  • Performs maintenance and/or installation of electrical systems/equipment.  Must have a thorough understanding of the National Electric Code and the ability to read blueprints.

  • Maintain, calibrate and safely repair mechanical systems such as pumps, bearings, seals, gears, etc.

  • Maintains HVAC equipment, performs preventative maintenance, installation and repair as required.

  • Complete work orders and record time/material utilized on jobs, through a computer based asset management system.

  • Assist with contracted inspections to meet standards and developing improvements to facilities equipment.

  • Other duties may include snow removal, operating heavy equipment, data entry, facilities on-call responsibilities, as well as supporting other needs as assigned. Mandatory overtime during winter season*

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED and five years’ experience in relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as listed above.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman Electrician License, Journeyman HVAC License, Journeyman Plumbing License and/or accredited certification or diploma in association with jobs listed above

  • Commercial Driver’s license – Class B (or the ability to acquire  a Class B within 6 months of the hire date) Preferred

  • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Electrical theory and calculations
  • Motor controls
  • Mechanical concepts, i.e. engine operation
  •  maintaining industrial equipment
  • Cutting, soldering and welding
  • Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s)
  • Preventative Maintenance practices
  • Fluid power and pneumatics
  • Generators, VFDs and UPS
  • OSHA standards, National Electric Code and ASHRAE guidelines

  • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing and spreadsheets;
