POSITION TITLE: Water Quality Supervisor (Industrial)

Pay: $60,000-$90,000 Annual Salary

HOURS: Day Shift 7:30am-3:30pm

LOCATION: Indianapolis, Indiana

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

  • Operates water treatment facility to ensure that plant wash down, process, and storm waters are within environmental guidelines before discharging to the POTW.  Responsible for the neutralization of process effluents, and the proper disposal of reacted components.  

II.    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  •  Inspects and tours department to detect existing or potential environmental, safety, and health hazards.
  • Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate water flow.  Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings, and tests results to determine load requirements.
  • Directs workers in dismantling, assembly, and installation.  Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of process water.  Make necessary flow adjustments as needed
  • Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.  Maintains Q.C. and environmental logs of water discharge.
  • Collects samples and prepares samples for analysis by the Q.C. laboratory.  
  • Troubleshoots problems associated with quality and implements changes necessary to maintain proper water quality standards.
  • Observe trends and make necessary adjustments.
  • Complies with all environmental, health, safety and housekeeping programs.
  • Continually train employees on all aspects of Water Quality
  • Incorporates continuous improvement within the department.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

III.    PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school and college chemistry or math courses or equivalent experience “C” Class Certified Wastewater Treatment Operator
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills; written and verbal
  • Computer proficiency

IV.    POST-HIRE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Environmental training applicable to the job
  • Class “D” Wastewater Treatment license must be obtained within 18 months.
  • Safety training for applicable equipment
  • Job instructional training
  • Quality system familiarization
  • ISO 14001 awareness, objectives and targets, department significant environmental impacts
  • OHSAS 18001 Awareness, OH&S-MS Objectives and Goals, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control

V.    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger,     handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee     is occasionally required to talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places; and with explosives and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or     airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold.  The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.  Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.

RETIREMENT PLANNING

  • 401 (k) Plan – with employee contributions up to 5% of Salary (50% discretionary company match), accompanied by a non-discretionary contribution of 5.5% (i.e. total 8% company contribution) you will be eligible to participate three months after your start date. The company match eligibility begins after six months of service and you become vested after three years of service.

TOOL REIMBURSEMENT

  • For qualified Maintenance skilled trade employees with at least one year of continuous service in the maintenance department, the company will reimburse up to One-Hundred Forty Dollars ($140) on a yearly basis.
