What You’ll Do
As a shipyard rigger, you’ll help lift, move, position, and secure everything from pipes, valves, pumps, and motors to massive machinery and structural ship components.
Responsibilities may include:

Operating cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment
-
Calculating load weights, centers of gravity, lift-point capacities, and sling angles
-
Selecting the proper rigging equipment for each lift
-
Lifting, maneuvering, and setting ship components into place
-
Erecting, maintaining, and dismantling scaffolding
-
Installing and maintaining shipboard ventilation equipment
-
Assisting with ship movements, docking, mooring, and outfitting operations
-
Inspecting, maintaining, and issuing shipyard tools and equipment
What You Must Bring
-
Previous rigging experience
-
Strong knowledge of rigging methods, metals, and lifting equipment
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
-
Excellent attention to safety and detail
-
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
-
Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb
-
Ability to work at extreme heights and inside confined spaces
-
Ability to work any assigned shift based on production needs
-
Ability to pass a respirator fit test
-
Ability to pass a physical agility test
-
Ability to pass a hair-follicle drug test with a three-month lookback
-
A valid REAL ID or passport
-
U.S. citizenship, as required by this federal contract

$140/day per diem, paid seven days per week when working a minimum of 50 hours

$0.50/hour perfect-attendance bonus, paid weekly
