Position Summary

CraftForce is seeking experienced Welders to support the manufacturing of generator enclosure fuel tanks and assemblies used in large-scale power generation equipment. This position is responsible for producing high-quality welds that meet strict testing requirements to ensure leak-free fuel tanks and structurally sound assemblies.

The Weld Department is a critical part of the manufacturing process. Welders perform both continuous and stitch welding on 10-gauge mild steel up to 1/4-inch thick while building assemblies from blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.

Because these tanks contain diesel fuel, weld quality is essential to product performance, environmental safety, and overall equipment reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG (GMAW) and FCAW welding on mild and structural steel.

  • Complete both continuous and stitch welds on fuel tanks and assemblies.

  • Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.

  • Perform 1G (horizontal) and 3G (vertical) welding applications.

  • Produce fillet and butt weld joints according to specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and weld symbols.

  • Utilize hand and power tools including grinders, cut-off wheels, and magnetic drills.

  • Conduct routine equipment checks to ensure proper operation.

  • Accurately measure materials and components using a tape measure.

  • Assist with fabrication, assembly, and related manufacturing tasks as needed.

  • Follow established welding procedures to meet pressure and vacuum testing requirements.

  • Maintain quality standards and ensure completed welds are free from leaks or defects.

Welding and Testing Requirements

  • Welding is typically performed at approximately 25 volts with wire speeds between 500–550.

  • Welds must consistently pass:

    • 3 PSI pressure testing

    • Vacuum leak testing

  • Weld quality must prevent leaks, weak points, and structural defects.

  • Candidates must successfully complete a weld test before employment.

Equipment and Work Environment

  • Work with 10-gauge mild steel up to 1/4-inch thickness.

  • Operate cranes and work from ladders during fabrication and assembly processes.

  • Safely lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding fumes, heat, noise, and moving equipment.

  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production demands.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Previous MIG and FCAW welding experience.

  • Experience welding mild and structural steel.

  • Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.

  • Manufacturing or production welding experience.

  • Welding trade school or vocational training.
