2ND SHIFT Test Technology Technician needed in  Rocky Mount, NC

Starting offering salary up to $67,200/year depending on experience.

This is an Endurance Test cell Technician position in a Product Engineering Lab in Rocky Mount. The Product Engineering Lab tests diesel and natural gas engines for emissions compliance, product validation, aftertreatment integration and engine calibration development.

The responsibilities of this role are expansive and include but are not limited to building, repairing and preparing engines for engine testing, installing engines into test cells, maintaining and troubleshooting test cell and control systems and ensuring operational compliance and quality of engine test data and equipment.

Individuals applying for this role should have experience and/or education in any of the following areas: Diesel engine fundamentals, Instrumentation and controls, equipment maintenance and operation, project management, basic computer networking and programming.

Key Responsibilities:
* Train with skilled journey workers under the direction of Lab managers.
* Work in the Product Engineering Lab to set up test cycles for engine performance and development while maintaining maximum utilization of the test cell.
* Follow standardized processes for engine builds, teardown and component installations
* Install/uninstall engines in test cells, set up computer-based test cycles for engine performance, development, stress, vibration and emissions tests and verify in-coming data quality.
* Calibrate, troubleshoot and implement instrumentation and facility systems critical for engine testing and data measurement.
* Develop proficiency with dynos, driveshafts, cell connections and test rigs.
* Gain experience troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment.
* Gain experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, etc.
* Participation in Lab Team Base Work Systems (TBWS).
* Actively improve skills and track on Apprentice Skill Matrix; this matrix is reviewed weekly with journeyperson(s) and manager.
* Demonstrate learned skills through end of rotation skills assessment.
* Comply with RMEP safety practices and procedures including but, not limited to, Lockout * Tagout (LOTO), Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV), Hoist and Crane, Working from Heights and Confined Space.
* Participate in Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives.
* Help improve housekeeping in the work areas.
* Must be able to lift one to forty-five pounds frequently and seventy-five pounds or more infrequently with assistance.

Position Expectations:
* Work 40hr week. Available to work weekends and overtime, dependent on business needs.

* Test Article Build – Assembles test articles according to test requirements, including all necessary installation or accommodations for instrumentation, in a manner that allows the test articles to successfully undergo product functional test.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
* High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
* This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:
* Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.

Individuals applying for this role should have experience and/or education in any of the following areas: instrumentation and controls, facility equipment maintenance and operation (air handlers, boilers, chillers, piping distribution systems), project management, computer networking and programming (Linux).

Position and core hours will align with first shift operations for 6-12 months during initial training period. Potential re-alignment to second shift hours may occur after 6-12 months depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
* Train with skilled journey workers and/or engineers under direction of team leader.
* Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment and hardware using test equipment and software tools. Determine root cause and resolve issues.
* Support and lead hardware and software related improvement projects, specific to specialized and standard test systems, facility systems and computer/equipment networking.
